Last updated: January 23, 2025

1. Introduction

Zyntax ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using Zyntax, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Zyntax is a local-first application. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to our servers. All data you create or use within the App remains on your device, including:

  • Code files and projects
  • Terminal commands and history
  • Git repositories and credentials
  • AI API keys (stored locally on your device)
  • App settings and preferences

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

We may collect limited technical information for app functionality and crash reporting:

  • Device type and Android version
  • App version and build number
  • Crash logs and error reports (anonymous)

This information is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify you personally.

3. How We Use Information

The limited technical information we collect is used solely to:

  • Improve app performance and stability
  • Fix bugs and crashes
  • Understand which Android versions to support
  • Enhance user experience

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any other commercial purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 AI Services

If you choose to use AI features, you must provide your own API keys for third-party AI services (OpenRouter, Google Gemini, or Ollama). When you use these features:

  • Your API keys are stored locally on your device
  • Your code and prompts are sent directly to the AI provider you choose
  • We do not intercept, store, or have access to this data
  • You are subject to the privacy policies of the AI provider you use

4.2 Package Manager

When you install packages through the built-in package manager, packages are downloaded directly from Termux repositories. We do not track or monitor your package installations.

4.3 Git Operations

Git operations (clone, push, pull) connect directly to your chosen Git hosting service (GitHub, GitLab, etc.). Your Git credentials are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.

5. Data Storage and Security

All your data is stored locally on your Android device in the app's private storage directory. This includes:

  • Your code files and projects
  • Terminal history and configurations
  • Git repositories and credentials
  • API keys and settings

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data on your device. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your device secure (screen lock, encryption)
  • Backing up your important files
  • Protecting your API keys and credentials

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with anyone except:

  • When required by law: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation.
  • To protect rights: We may disclose information to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.

Since we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is minimal information available to share.

7. Your Rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it:

  • Access: You can access all your data through the App or your device's file manager.
  • Deletion: You can delete any or all data by uninstalling the App or clearing app data in Android settings.
  • Export: You can export your files and projects at any time.
  • Portability: Your files are in standard formats and can be moved to other applications.

8. Children's Privacy

Zyntax is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. International Users

Zyntax is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device, there are no international data transfers. However, if you use third-party services (AI providers, Git hosting), your data may be transferred to servers in other countries according to those services' privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date
  • Providing an in-app notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
